Darrin L. Buxman – Partner

Darrin Buxman is a 1983 graduate of Pueblo County High School.  He grew up on a ranch located on 44th Lane in the County.  Darrin is 1988 graduate of the University of Southern Colorado, where he majored in Political Science and minored in Economics, and a 1991 graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law.  He has been practicing law in Pueblo since 1991.  Darrin specializes in Estate Planning, Probate, Business Law, Business Formation and Personal Injury.

In addition to being a member of the Pueblo County and Colorado Bar Associations, Darrin is also a life member of the National Rifle Association, as well as Gun Owners of America, Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and the CATO Institute.  Darrin is married and has three children.

 
Douglas J. Kwitek – Partner

Douglas Kwitek was born in Loveland, Colorado.  He grew up in Canon City, Colorado, where he attended Canon City High School and graduated with the class of 1986.  In high school, Doug worked as a cartographer for the Fremont County Abstract and Title Company.  There he learned about land titles and real property issues.  He continued that education in his undergraduate studies when he worked for the County Land Surveyor.  A graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder  in 1990, Doug obtained a Political Science, Bachelor of Arts diploma.  Thereafter he attended law school at the University of Wyoming, College of Law in Laramie.  During law school, Doug worked during his summers with the 11th Judicial District, District Attorney’s office in Canon City.

After graduation from law school in 1993 and passing the bar exam, Doug opened his own practice in Canon City and handled all types of criminal and traffic defense, domestic relations matters and juvenile related issues.  He later took a job in Pueblo with Banner & Enck, the predecessor law firm to Buxman Kwitek, PC.  Doug initially resided in Pueblo, but moved to Pueblo West on a temporary basis, only to grow to appreciate the community.  He and his wife Kristi have lived there for over 17 years, where they are raising two children.

Doug’s practice areas have changed over the years and now he handles estate planning, and probate, contracts, real estate and corporate matters; including litigation.  He has enjoyed practicing with Darrin Buxman for over 18 years, where they share the same philosophies about the practice, most importantly the principal of putting their clients’ interests first, even before their own.

 

 
Linda McMillan – Associate

Linda McMillan is a graduate of the University of Texas where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geological studies in 1984.  After working for some time as a geological consultant, Ms. McMillan participated in a joint degree program through the Sturm College of Law at the University of Denver and the Colorado School of Mines obtaining both her J.D. from the University of Denver in 1990 and a Master of Science in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines in 1992.  Ms. McMillan has considerable experience in the areas of civil litigation, contract law, real estate, probate, elder law, water law, and Medicaid related issues.

 
Stacie N. Shirley – Associate

Stacie Shirley is the newest attorney to join Buxman Kwitek & Ohlsen and a lifelong Pueblo resident.  She is a 2003 graduate of South High School and a 2007 graduate of Colorado State University-Pueblo, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with minors in Business Administration and Leadership Studies.  She then went on to attend Creighton University School of Law and graduated magna cum laude with her J.D. in 2010.  Stacie is an active member of the Pueblo community and is an avid supporter and volunteer of the Pueblo area Special Olympics.
